Programme: Adaptation Fund Programme — Integrated Programme to Build Resilience to Climate Change and Adaptive Capacity of Vulnerable Communities in Kenya
Emerald Environment Ltd conducted an independent Social Audit of the Adaptation Fund Programme—Integrated Programme to Build Resilience to Climate Change and Adaptive Capacity of Vulnerable Communities in Kenya. The programme targeted vulnerable communities across 15 counties: Kilifi, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Kisumu, Marsabit, Laikipia, Garissa, Wajir, Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Murang’a, Nyeri, and Embu.
Using a participatory, stakeholder-centred approach, the Social Audit assessed the programme’s performance against internationally recognized evaluation criteria, including relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, impact, and sustainability. The process engaged government agencies, implementing partners, community groups, and vulnerable populations to ensure that local perspectives informed the assessment and future programme improvements.
